Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology taping is a therapeutic tool used alongside manual therapy and electrotherapies. Kinesiology taping is based on neurophysiological mechanisms and the effect of mechanical stimuli on body systems, connecting the brain to the body’s uninterrupted fascial web in order to enhance performance via cutaneous stimulation. It is used to reduce pain, spasm, swelling, and oedema, provide structural support, increase proprioception and removes toxins produced by the body during exercise. Additionally taping increases joint range of motion, improves muscle function; and maintains a level of functionality and comfort for the animal throughout the rehabilitation process or athletic performance.

Kinesiology tape remains on the animal for up to 3-5 days and is water resistant. Usual activities (such as walking, riding and turnout) can be undertaken as normal.

Taping applications are used following a physiotherapy session to maintain prolong the benefits.
